Have you seen one of the newest books just out: "Chicken Soup for the Soul; Children with Special Needs"? The subtitle is: "Stories of Love and Understanding for Those Who Care for Children with Disabilities." I love the short, moving stories in Chicken Soup Books, and these are top-notch.
One of my favorite stories is called, "Illumination" about a young girl, Abby with cerebral palsy being a magnet for bullies, especially Kristen. The school was going to discipline the culprit, until Abby's mother decided to strategize her own tactics. By the time Christmas had rolled around, Kristen had shopped with Abby and her mom for the school exchange gifts and wrapped her own. This year it wasn't the genaric gift a kind teacher put under the tree for Kristin.
Abby's mother helped her move forward in her school years so any enemy became a friend. This is the true spirit of Christianity, it seems to me...Christ-like love!
